How to Pick a Stock Newsletter (2026 Guide)

There are thousands of investing newsletters. Use this checklist before you pay for one.

  1. Match the strategy to you. Long-term investors usually want value, dividend or quality research. Traders want options or active-trader letters.
  2. Pick a cadence you will actually read. Daily letters suit traders; weekly or monthly suit most investors.
  3. Read free posts first. Many paid letters publish free issues. See free newsletters.
  4. Check the real price and renewal terms on the official page, including intro offers that renew at a higher rate.
  5. Look for a trial or refund policy. Our listings note one only when the official page states it.
  6. Check who the writer is and how they get paid. Look for disclosures about owning the stocks they write about or being paid to promote a company.
  7. Be wary of guaranteed returns. No one can guarantee market returns. Claims like that are a red flag. The SEC and FINRA publish investor alerts on newsletter and promotion scams.
